Veranstaltungsbeschreibung
Racism and eurocentrism are structural power dynamics that influence individual behaviour. They shape the way we see the world, ourselves, and the people we seek to support. In this workshop we want to explore how the historical and structural roots of racism and eurocentrism continue to influence international volunteering and support structures today. How do racism and eurocentrism appear in the organisations, support structures, and spaces we are part of? How do they show up in our own work?
Most importantly, the workshop invites us to reflect on our own position, assumptions, and ways of working in this context. How might we unintentionally reinforce unequal power relations? Whose knowledge and perspectives are valued? Who gets to define what “help” looks like, and who gets to make decisions?
We want to ask ourselves honestly how our own engagement might reproduce these patterns. We are looking forward to reflecting together!
The workshop will be held in English
